Pam from Formby parties with the Queen!
A WOMAN from Formby had a 70th birthday she would never forget after she received an invitation to the Queens garden party. Pam Cooper from Harington Green in Formby was given a surprise present from her daughter, Cathryn, who told her she had been invited to attend the Women's Institute Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, by invitation from the Queen. Pam's birthday celebrations began with a surprise visit to St Peter's Church in Formby, where her husband, Mike, had organised a ceremony to renew their vows. Mike said: “She thought she was going for a meal with the family, but I surprised her by taking her to St Peter's Church to renew our wedding vows. ”The service was conducted by the Reverend Ann Taylor in a short and moving ceremony. “This was followed by a lovely meal at the Freshfield Hotel, and it was here where Cathryn had more surprises in store for Pam. ”She was told that she would be going to Buckingham Palace to attend the Queens garden party. “She is still talking about it now, it was an experience of a lifetime and I am sure she will never forget it. ”The pair of them took the opportunity to stay in London for a couple of days, they took in some of the sites of the capital by taking a bus tour around London and they also went to see Billy Elliot in the Victoria Palace Theatre. “I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped organise a special birthday for my wife Pam, she had a brilliant time.”
