Four cars stolen at Five Star of Formby

Five Star of Formby was broken into last night - Wednesday 29th July. The doors, which are on Church Road, were smashed through early hours in the morning.

The discovery wasnt realised until the family run business was opened up this morning.

Four cars were stolen off the forecourt along with the safe which contained all the keys for the other vehicles.

They stole four cars worth £26,000 and keys to 20 other vehicles -

A black Mercedes C180 (KR55 CKE), a black Land Rover Discovery (FH54 YCK), a silver BMW 5 Series (BD61 HWF) and a silver Audi TT (Y611 KDM) were all taken.

The dealership is next to Formby police station, which was closed at the time, but often has patrol cars based outside.

Owner Alan Gabrielson said it would cost the firm around £2,000 to change the locks on the 20 cars.

He said: “There were about four or five of them and they burst the doors open. There were four cars stolen off the forecourt, and keys in the safe have also been taken. They also took a beautiful framed photograph of Everton captain Phil Jagielka."

One of the cars was tracked on Eastway in Maghull by a camera – our fear is that the cars are bound for a chop shop to be sold on as parts.

Five Star of Formby has been established over 20 years in our Bubble and have built a reputation for selling excellent quality used motor vehciles. A family run business supplying almost any make of used car from prestige, sport to 4 wheel drive, MPV''s family saloons or small hatchbacks."

The thieves left a Range Rover because it had a flat tyre but, they had obtained the keys which were left in the ignition.

The garage stands on the corner of School Lane and Church Road, right next door to Formby Police Station which, is no longer in use.

Thousands of pounds worth of vehicles taken from a family run independant local business which will obviously have a huge impact on the family and the business.

Police said an investigation was underway. “An investigation into the matter is on-going and a forensic examination of the scene has taken place. CCTV opportunities are being explored.”

Anyone who have witnessed this incident or anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 101 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
