Formby Folk Club have invited a host of ukulele players from Southport U3A to perform at their Singers Night at the Gild Hall on May 6. Around 20 players from the recently formed Ukulele Group will be playing a range of folk songs and shanties. The evening will start at 8pm. Kevin Bargen, member of Formby Folk Club said: “The sudden interest in the ukulele reaches Formby as we await the arrival of ukulele players from Southport U3A. ”They will be performing an extended spot during the popular Singers Night, and among those playing will be around 20 players from the recently formed Ukulele Group. “The usual folk songs and shanties will also be performed by the Folk Club members but the sound of massed ukuleles will reverberate around the Gild Hall throughout the evening.”
