Satterthwaites thinking about coming back to Formby.....
February 23, 2015

Thanks Louise for bringing this to our attention. Satterthwaites did say when they re-opened in Crosby that they would consider a Formby shop again once they were established. Here's hoping, we will have to wait and see.
Would you like to see Satterthwaites back in our Bubble?
Satterthwaites provided 102 years of pleasure for cake and pie-lovers (and lovers of all manner of baked goodies), then died a sad and sorrowful death.
But then it rose again!
Loyal and loving customers bid a tearful farewell to Satterthwaites when it closed its doors, seemingly for the last time, in October 2012.
The family business, which began in Southport in 1910, shut its seven stores in Crosby, Waterloo, Formby, Maghull and Netherton and handed the keys over to administrators after failing to find a buyer.
But then, in April 2013, Satterthwaites was back in business – at its former base in Coronation Road, Crosby.
Queues formed round the block and the people were happy again – because the pies (and Bavarian slices and so much more) were back in town.
Husband and wife team Jon and Sarah Wills took over the famous brand – and Satterthwaites Bakehouse hasn’t looked back since.
Two years on, Jon, who was brought up in Crosby and returned after a 16-year property developing adventure down south, says: “Things have gone even better than I expected.” Jon says he has his sights set on opening other stores: “We’re looking at having a shop in Formby or Southport and then it could be Wirral next or the city centre.”
Louise Hemlin posted on Formby Bubbles Facebook page.....
Just read in the Liverpool Echo that Satterthwaites has sights to reopen ing in Formby. Fingers crossed.
