Seftons most sought after primary schools.....
Schools expansion plans on the agenda in bid to resolve city heartache
Parents have a battle on their hands to secure places for their children at some of the most sought-after primary schools in Merseyside, new figures reveal.
And, just as at secondary schools, up to six youngsters are applying for every place at the most in-demand primaries.
By 2019, the total primary school population in Liverpool is expected to have risen by around 4,400 pupils. But, while many schools in Merseyside found themselves oversubscribed, some schools attracted fewer applications than their allotted places.
“The council has a duty to ensure schools do not become overcrowded, and there are legal limits to the size of infant classes. The council will always work with parents to offer a place at a school near to their home address.
“Parents also have a right to appeal to an Independent Appeal Panel.”
Parents have until January 15 to apply for a primary school place for their child for September next year.
