MP applauds "fantastic exhibition" of Formby artists

Formby MP Bill Esterson congratulated the Association of Formby Artists for their "fantastic exhibition" at Holy Trinity Church Hall.

Mr Esterson said he thoroughly enjoyed viewing the paintings on display and was impressed at the high standard of the art work.

Bill Esterson MP said, "Congratulations to the Association of Formby Artists for a fantastic exhibition. I was really impressed by just how high the standard was of the paintings on display."

Mr Esterson singled out a number of paintings for special mention, including the picture of a red squirrel, the race horses and the painting of Liverpool Manager, Jurgen Klopp. He said, "The paintings on display included a good representation of the constituency of Sefton Central, which I am privileged to represent in Parliament. The red squirrel was a reminder of Formby's role as a sanctuary for these shy creatures at one end of my constituency, while the race horses were a reminder of Aintree racecourse at the other end of the constituency. There were also a number of reminders of Crosby at the exhibition.

"Meanwhile, the painting of Jurgen Klopp captures him very well and is a fitting tribute to Jurgen, who has made Formby his home.

"Congratulations to all of the artists and thanks to everyone involved in organising the exhibition. Judging by the number of people who attended, this was a very popular and successful event."

Catie Page, who until this month’s local elections was a Formby councillor, is a member of the Association of Formby Artists. Catie added, "I really enjoy painting and the Association of Formby Artists is a fantastic, welcoming group of people and are always open to welcoming new members. They are an excellent organisation and the people involved are fantastic. I agree with Bill that the exhibition was a great success and I look forward to the next one."

The Association of Formby Artists meets each week on Wednesday afternoon and evening and have outdoor sessions on Wednesday afternoons in the summer months from 1.30 to 4pm. Details are on their Facebook Page. The next exhibition is in November.
