Hundreds of visitors flocked to Formby Live on the hottest day of the year

The hub of our community, Formby Pool Gardens and Formby Village came alive again this year for the Formby Live three day music festival.

which took place on Friday 16th - 18th June.

It was the hottest weekend of the year so far when temperatures in our Bubble reached 24C. Hundreds of visitors flocked to the fantastic event and enjoyed two full days of entertainment from the Mersey Cats on a stage at the pool gardens and also a busking stage at Chapel Lane.

Local venues including Woodwards and Cafe D'Art, had live music all weekend.

The atmosphere was fantastic with something for everyone. The kids had fairground rides and a bouncy slide that was as high as the pool towering over 30ft!

On Saturday and Sunday afternoon there was a 'Busking Stage' in Chapel Lane, BBQ with Cafe D'Art and everyone enjoying the sunshine, drinks and music.

Formby Pool hosted the Merseycats main stage featuring a fantastic line up of rock 'n' roll bands as well as children's rides, picnic and BBQ factilities.

The Merseycats stage presented a succession of Rock 'n' Roll performances from 13 bands. As usual, Formby Pool had a picnic area and amusements for all the family throughout the weekend.

The 'Busk Stop' stage on Chapel Lane presented a variety of musical entertainment throughout the afteroonncluding the amazing Make Noise Choir which just blew the audience away!. Also, Woodwards and Cafe D'Art held an Afternoon 'Ramble' when a variety of artists performed at both venues from 2pm. In the evening both venues had live music 'tll late

Event organiser, Pat Wordley said: "On behalf of Woodwards and Cafe D'Art, we were thrilled with the turnout and the amazing local talent on display on the Chapel Lane 'Busk Stop' stage and in the bars."

"We would like to give a special thanks to Alex Epsley and to Eddie and Iain of band Counting Crowd, who supplied the sound engineering and performed brilliantly themselves, too! They also raised over £200 in donations from the appreciative Formby crowd."

"Also a big thankyou to Silver & Rose and Barnados for kindly providing the power - for the event and to all the amazing performers, too!"

"There was plenty of fun activities for the kids at Formby Pool and two days of Rock 'n' Roll from the Merseycat bands. All in all a wonderful weekend and to top it all we couldn't have asked for better weather!"

The event is funded by contributions from Formby Parish Council, Waitrose Community Fund and the participating bars. The organisers are always keen to make this festival the best ever and are constantly looking to invite local businesses to help with sponsorship.
