Burglary in Formby whilst owners were in the house
Merseyside Police is appealing for witnesses after a burglary in Formby. At around 6pm on Sunday 5th February, a house on Wheatstone Road, Formby was broken into and a blue Volkswagen Golf was stolen from the driveway. An investigation has started and officers are making witness, CCTV and forensic enquiries.
Owner of the vehicle, Julie Briggs said: "My car was stolen from my drive around 6pm on 5th February off the Bellway estate. It's a blue Golf GTD. The burglars opened the patio door and took car keys from the kitchen whilst me and my husband and two children were in the house! We need to make people aware about locking their doors and cars as looks like this has happened a few times over last few weeks in Formby."
A witness, Andrew Chignell said: "I saw them driving down Liverpool Road and almost smashed up a load of cars swerving everywhere. They headed out of Formby past the Sports Direct gym. They also almost smashed into a bus which will have recording devices fitted to it."
Community Inspector Graham Fisher said: “This offence happened in the early evening and we would like to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious around that time or saw the Golf after it was stolen. “I would ask that people review their home security and check that their windows and doors are secured ensuring that keys are not left in them.” Anyone with information should contact Merseyside Police via 101 or through Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
