Southport mum seeks help as burglars steal disability trike on boy's birthday

People urged to share appeal and keep their eyes out for distinctive specialist disability trike

A Southport woman is appealing for people’s help after thieves stole her son’s specialist disability trike on his birthday.

The bike was stolen as burglars struck at the home in Marshside, as the family were looking forward to celebrating the boy’s 12th birthday.

The theft took place at some time either last night or this morning.

Now mum Lyndsey Hughes is urging people to share the appeal and keep their eyes out for the distinctive bike.

Merseyside Police officers are also appealing for information about the thief or thieves responsible.

Lyndsey said: “Cannot believe I am having to put up this post on my son’s birthday, but we have just discovered his trike has been stolen from our garden (Marshide, Southport).

“It was well secured and barricaded from sight.

“A strimmer has also been stolen.

“Whoever has taken it would have had a struggle to get it out of the garden.

“It is a specialist disability trike, is very recognisable and unique.

“PLEASE SHARE in the hope it will be returned.

“We haven’t broken the news to our son yet.”

If anyone spots the trike, or has any information about the burglary, please phone Southport Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
