St. Joseph’s Hospice, in Thornton, is offering Christmas tree collections to residents in Waterloo, Crosby, Thornton, Hightown, Formby and Maghull in January. Hospice volunteers will be out in force collecting real Christmas trees on 11th and 12th January for a minimum donation of £10. Formby Junior Sports Club Under 17 Boys team played very well in the local derby against Freshfield United but had to be patient until a ten minute second half goal spurt secured the win. Only three Formby Junior Sports Club Representative team matches were played at the weekend and these only went ahead because they were played on artificial playing surfaces.
